Trent and I celebrated our 9th anniversary on June 9th! When we had a conference scheduled in New Jersey for that week, we worked it out for me to fly up there for a long weekend in New York! We had the best time exploring the city and stayed super busy trying to fit so much in to 3 days.
The view from our hotel room on Friday afternoon.
First stop, the MET.
Trent's favorite room
Beautiful views from the rooftop bar
Gorgeous weather all weekend!
Relaxing by the lake watching the sailboats in Central Park
Dinner at the Boathouse
And a special dessert for our anniversary!
The beautiful lobby of our hotel
We ate a quick breakfast in the cafe downstairs and then headed out for a day full of adventures.
First stop was the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. It was amazing. We spent 2 1/2 hours there, and it could have been much longer.
We walked over to Battery Park and had lunch at Shake Shack...super yummy!
Then we sat along the river for awhile. You can see the Statue of Liberty in the distance.
We had a few hours to rest that afternoon, and I read in the courtyard of our hotel.
Ready for dinner at David Burke's kitchen in SOHO
On Sunday morning we walked the few blocks to Rockefeller Center.
Where the Today show is filmed
Outside of Fox News
And then we went to the Top of the Rock and enjoyed the amazing views
We then did a tour of Rockefeller Center that we loved! It provided so much history and interesting stories.
Then we rode the subway to the Bronx
And went to the Yankees game!
Beautiful day!
We did some shopping on 5th Avenue after the game and then got ready for dinner.
We ate at Patsy's, a hole in the wall family owned Italian restaurant. It was AMAZING!!! We will definitely be going back there on our next trip!
And we had to stop for dessert at Magnolia Bakery on our walk back to the hotel!
Drinks and dessert in our hotel bar
Enjoying our last night on vacation!
I went to the Today show plaza on Monday morning while Trent for a run in the park.
Unfortunately they weren't doing any filming outside that day due to the news coverage in Orlando.
We then packed up our suitcases and walked to Grand Central Station.
It was huge! We rode the subway down to Wall Street.
New York Stock Exchange
And then we made the short walk to Battery Park to ride the ferry to Jersey City. From there we took Uber to the airport.
Beautiful views of the city from the ferry!
We had such a nice time away enjoying uninterrupted meals, quality time, our own schedule, etc. But we sure missed our boys and were ready to see them!
I don't think they missed us at all though! They stayed plenty busy at Mimi and Grampy's house!
They did lots of swimming!
Went to the safari in Johnson City
This camel ended up licking Bennett on the face!
Feeding the animals
More swimming
Building with Uncle Brad
And milkshakes every night before bed!
Fishing
Playing in the Mickey tent
Swinging at the park
Picking peaches at Sweet Berry Farm
I'm so thankful Trent and I are able to take time away like this to spend time together!
