Memorial Day Weekend

We enjoyed a wonderful 3 day weekend with tons of good family time, fun with friends, a date night, and a morning at the pool!

A happy Friday morning with my boys!

Playing with Colton and June at the mall on Friday morning.

We went to Yard House for dinner on Friday night.  My boys apparently were really into people watching while we waited for our table!

Saturday morning pancakes at Island Grill!  Yummy!
Graham and Trent ran a few errands and then cleaned out the garage and did some yard work.

Sweet B and I came home for his nap and then ran a few errands of our own.
We all crashed for naps that afternoon before meeting up with the Whitby's and Valentine's for dinner that evening.

Luke was cracking me up!  He loves him some Mexican food!
I didn't get a picture because I was feeding both him and Graham, but they couldn't get enough of the ice cream and sopapillas that they had for dessert!

Sunday morning started with a party in the bathroom at 6:30 due to a tornado warning.  Thankfully it only lasted about 20 minutes, and we were okay.  The rain stopped pretty quickly, and we went to Sunday school and church.

That afternoon our babysitter came at 4 so that Trent and I could go out to a movie and dinner!
We saw Hot Pursuit - it was really funny!  We both enjoyed it.  Then we went to dinner at Liberty Kitchen - it was delicious!  One of the best meals I've ever had!
We split deviled eggs with fried oysters on top, then I had red fish, hash potatoes, and asparagus.  And dessert was a huge piece of chocolate cake - I'm about to finish off the second half of it!

 My cute date! :)
He had red velvet cheesecake for dessert!

This morning we woke up to sunshine!  We were so excited after all this rain we've had.
Our neighborhood pool has a big Memorial Day party to kick off the summer.

 Walking to the pool!

Sweet Bennett loved it!  He just floated and splashed and watched all of the big kids!

My big boy thought he wanted to go off the diving board.  But he got about 3 steps from the end and decided he wasn't quite ready!

But he did go down the slide about 10 times!

Bennett and Luke eating lunch in the wagon!

And then B got to hang out with Madison!

We are excited about a fun summer with lots of fun memories at the pool with our friends!

And now it's pouring down rain again.  So I'm going to finish off my chocolate cake and have some coffee to stay up while these storms roll through.
Happy Monday!

Baby Dedication Weekend

My parents came in town last Friday afternoon for a busy and fun weekend!  Trent actually ended up being out of town on a work trip until Saturday night.  We went out for Mexican food Friday night and then to Galveston on Saturday.  It was our first nice day of weather in a couple of weeks, and we were all thankful for some sunshine and time to play outside!

Sweet Bennett fell asleep on Bop's shoulder on Friday evening after his bottle!

His first time at the beach - he definitely approved!

Graham dug and played in the sand all day, and he also loved jumping the waves!
I can't wait for Port A this summer  - he will LOVE playing on the beach with his cousins!

For some reason, he insisted on taking a flag with us to the beach, and he kept moving it around and setting it up by wherever he was playing!

Beach bums!

I tried keeping toys in his mouth instead of sand...

A picnic lunch on the beach, life is good!

And B napped on Nana!

Both boys were worn out and slept on the way home.  This one didn't even wake up for a Sonic stop - that's when you know he's tired!

On Sunday morning we had baby dedication at church.  It was a special morning committing to raising Bennett in a Christian home, teaching him about God's love, and being active in church.  We loved having my parents there to support us.  We LOVE our church and all of the resources, love, and guidance they provide us in this parenting journey.

Exploring in the sanctuary before church.

Up first to see Dr. Young!

Brunch at Union Kitchen after church

It was impossible to get all 3 to look and smile at the same time!

Family pic!  G had already changed when we remembered to take a picture - oops!

Bennett at 8 Months

Whoa...time needs to slow down!  This sweet boy will be 1 before we know it!  What a huge month for him - lots of fun changes!  He's still happy as ever!

Stats: We didn't go to the dr. this month and don't have to go back until his 9 month appointment.  He's about 25 pounds.  I will be anxious to see his length - his legs look so long!

Eating: Bennett eats at 7 oz bottle at 8:30, 12:30, 4:30, and 7:30.  And, yes, he still wakes up to eat sometime between 3 and 5 am!  For breakfast he has oatmeal, a fruit at lunch, and a veggie for dinner.

Personality: He is so happy all of the time and is always ready for the next adventure.  He will do anything to get somebody to look at him, and then he'll start smiling and talking.  He loves attention!  Bennett has proven to be very tough this month.  With his new mobility, he has taken quite a few tumbles.  Most of the time he'll just roll over, get back up, and take off again.  He is also getting more into Graham's toys, and we've had a few moments of Graham being a little rough with him.  Bennett doesn't mind at all!  A lot of times, Bennett is the one to try and "tackle" and play with Graham!  He is into everything right now just exploring now that he's so mobile.  I can let him out of my sight for a second.  It's a very busy stage!

Sleeping: At night Bennett sleeps from 8:00pm - 7:00am, with waking up once and going right back to sleep.  He naps from 9-10, and 1:30-4.  I usually wake him up after an hour of napping in the mornings because if he sleeps much longer then his afternoon nap won't be as good.  And that one's important because it's the same time Graham naps!

Likes: Graham, singing, clapping, being outside, interacting with people, bath time, toys that make noise

Dislikes: making him be still for too long while changing his diaper or clothes, being told no, having something taken away from him

Milestones: As soon as he mastered sitting last month, everything else just clicked to.  He is officially a crawler (May 8th), and he can go from his belly to a sitting position.  As soon as he started crawling, he started pulling up on anything and everything.  His legs have gotten so much stronger and sturdier in the last few days.  He is BUSY, BUSY BUSY.  A 3rd tooth, one on top, broke through today.  There are 3 more on top that look like they can come through any day.  I'm so ready for them to...teething has been rough on B!

Clothes: He is in 9 month and 6-12 month clothes.  Diapers are a size 4.

Favorite Moments: This past weekend was baby dedication at church.  (blog post coming!)  It was a special day for our family as we committed to raising Bennett in a Christian home.  We are so thankful for our family, friends, and church family who have come along beside us in this crazy journey of parenthood.

Looking forward to: We are going on our first vacation as a family of 4 next week!  It will be Bennett's first time on the airplane.  We are scheduled to fly during nap time - here's to hoping he falls asleep! :)

 Teething stinks!

 So proud of himself!

 Look at those long legs!

Crawling around in the sanctuary before church on Sunday!

 My view A LOT!

Pulling up on the table, being told no, and looking right at Trent and flashing his huge smile - trouble!

 My shopping buddy today!

Oh Bennett, you are such a joy!  We love you!
