5 Months

So these pictures just crack me up!  I was on my own taking them and was having a hard time getting Graham to stay still and not reach for the camera...but then I realized that's just exactly how he is right now!  All over the place and reaching out for everything!

I can't believe my sweet boy is 5 months already...and what a fun month this has been!  He is always so active, curious, determined, and busy...ALL THE TIME.  We have had so much fun going to music class, Bible study, playgroup, lunch at the mall with friends, swinging in the park, and many more fun things!

Stats: We think he is close to 18 pounds now...all I know is that he is HEAVY!!  I've had to stop carrying him in the infant seat because it just hurt my arm too much!  Thankfully we haven't had to go to the Dr. this month...we will be back in for his 6 month appointment at the beginning of March!

Milestones: rolling everywhere, scooting backwards, he got up on all fours yesterday and started rocking, trying rice cereal, "talking" up a storm, big belly laughs, sleeping in his crib, sooo close to sitting up, he does great with just a little support,
Feeding: He is eating at 5:00, 9:00, 12:30, 4:00, and 7:30.  He takes 7 ounces in his bottle, and then I also do a dream feed at 9:30 with just 4 ounces.  I would like to start some fruits and veggies soon so we are still practicing with rice cereal.  It has been better the last two times but still not great.

Behavior: Graham is so happy, easy-going, and flexible all of the time.  He loves being around other people!  He loves to laugh and smile at everybody and everything!  He has the best conversations with his friends on his exersaucer!  He is very good at playing independently on the floor, in the exersaucer, etc...I just have to be careful if he is in a position to roll across the room!

Sleep: He goes down between 8:00-8:30 every night.  Some nights he will wake up between 3 and 4, and others he will make it until 5:30 or 6!  I change him, feed him, and put him right back down, and he will sleep until between 8:00-8:30.  Graham is taking 3 naps a day, usually about 10:00, 1:00, and 4:30.  Sometimes he'll sleep for an hour and a half, and others it'll just be 30 or 45 minutes.  I'm hoping he gets into the longer naps more consistently soon!  He is officially sleeping in his crib all of the time now!  It was a pretty easy transition right after he turned 4 months old.  I think he covers every square inch of the crib at night.  He tends to like to scoot around the edges, and he especially likes the corners!

Clothes: He is wearing a few 3-6 month things, mostly 6 months, and a few 6-9 months.  I've had to buy some new clothes lately because we didn't have any short sleeve 6 month onesies...I wasn't planning on needing them in January, but then again we live in Texas!  And he just moved up to size 3 diapers last week!

Likes: swinging, singing, anything involving movement, rolling over, scooting, playing with friends, making noises, blowing bubbles/spitting, grabbing at anything and everything, his feet - a new found obsession, getting his clothes changed, taking a bath, sitting in his high chair, toys that make noise, standing on your lap and bouncing, reading books, climbing all over Trent when he gets home in the evenings

Dislikes: rice cereal, having to sit still, waiting too long for his bottle, his car seat...I really can't think of anything else!
Favorite moments:  So many things stand out this month, but they are all just day to day stuff, no major events.  I just love seeing his whole face light up with a smile and his excited squeal.  I'm so glad he is social and loves to interact with lots of people.  Graham is so easy to take with us everywhere we go and he is just flexible and easy.
Most challenging: keeping him entertained!  He will play great for about 30 minutes at a time in a certain "toy", but then he is ready to move on to the next thing!  Also there have been days where Graham has boycotted napping altogether, and that is exhausting for both of us.  It seems like either he sleeps really well at night and doesn't nap well or he doesn't sleep so great at night but then naps great.  I'm not sure which option I like better! :)

I put him on his back on the blanket and not five minutes later this is where he ended up...he'll bury his face in the carpet and use it as leverage to scoot forward.  I'm so afraid he's going to end up with carpet burns all over!

Looking forward to: I'm hoping Graham catches on to this whole eating thing sometime soon!  I think it will help him sleep better at night because he is just getting hungrier more often now.  I am also looking forward to him becoming more mobile and seeing him discover even more things and have more fun.  We will get to see the cousins this weekend, and I can't wait to watch them interact and play together!

Happy 5 months to our sweet boy!  We never knew we could love you like we do!

*It has taken me 4 days to write this because SOMEONE has decided not to nap well these last few days!  So I haven't had a chance to write it during the day, and I've been so exhausted in the evening that I just haven't gotten around to it!

Weekend Wrap-up

The weather this weekend gave me spring fever!  We had some special visitors this weekend...Trent's mom and grandmother came to visit us, and let's be honest, by us I mean Graham! :)  On Friday evening we went on a walk to the park so Graham could show them how much he loves to swing!  And then we had dinner and a relaxing evening at the house!

On Saturday morning we did some work in the backyard.  Trent tore up some old bushes, built some new flower beds with some pretty rock, and we put together our new patio table.  Our patio was poured last week, just in time for us to eat meals outside this weekend and enjoy the nice weather!

Our new patio...this week the outdoor kitchen is being built...we can't wait for it all to be finished!

 Four generations!

Our supervisor while we worked outside!

On Sunday at church the nursery had the kids dress in their favorite sports team shirt...so of course Graham wore his best Baylor polo!

 Sic 'em!

 Practicing walking on Daddy's feet!

We went on a family walk to get frozen yogurt on Sunday afternoon!

Graham helping Trent on the computer!

Graham and his sweet friend Ella at our Sunday School class Super Bowl party!  They were so wishing they could jump on the bouncy house with the bigger kids!

Happy Monday!

Loving Life

So we tried Graham out in the swing yesterday for the first time!  I think it's safe to say that he loved it...you can see from the pictures!  When I texted Trent a picture his response was, "He's loving life!"  I'm thankful for the awesome park in our neighborhood that is just a block away.  We actually went twice yesterday, and I'm looking forward to some nice weather these next few days so we can go again!

Weekend Wrap-up

We had a very fun and busy weekend!  Lots of pics to share....

This is actually from Thursday, but I just had to share!
Graham's new big boy car seat was delivered, and he LOVES it!  We are about done with the infant seat due to it being to heavy for me to carry, and he is just not liking it much at all anymore!

During naptime on Thursday....he knows we're watching him!

Just hanging out on Friday!  I don't think he gets enough to eat...

 Just playing!

On Friday evening we went out for pizza with friends!  We had a great time of fellowship!

About an hour after G's bedtime Friday night...still wide awake! :)

On Saturday we had two different birthday parties to attend!  They were both church friends so we had lots of fun hanging out and watching the kids play!  That afternoon we came home for naps!  And then Graham was ready to play!  Thanks to the 80 degree weather, he was able to wear his onesie from the beach...he already can't wait for Port A this summer!

On Sunday morning we had Sunday school and church, and then we just relaxed and napped the rest of the day!

The boys playing on the floor!

Graham telling me something very important!

His new trick...I'm not a fan!

 Too cute! :)

And this is from this morning, we started a Tiny Tots and Tunes music class at church with some friends!
Graham absolutely loved ringing the bells, marching in a circle, and doing lots of hand motions! :)

Happy Monday everybody!

Adventures With Rice Cereal

So we first tried rice cereal a couple of weeks ago.  Graham was not a fan!  He kept gagging himself and crying hysterically and trying to escape the Bumbo.

"You want me to eat what?!  Where's my bottle??"

I'm pretty sure he didn't end up swallowing any of it.  He just spit it out and it ended up all over his face and bib!

So we decided to wait a couple of weeks to try again...

It actually went a little better this time around, although the pictures look worse than the first attempt!  We will just keep trying!  But can you blame him?!  Rice cereal does not look appetizing whatsoever!

Weekend Wrap-up

Happy Monday!!  What a fun weekend I have to write about...it was a big one!  Trent's company has a conference in Scottsdale, Arizona every year.  Last year I flew out for the weekend to join him, and we had fun hiking, golfing, and just relaxing!  We first traveled to Scottsdale about 4 years ago over spring break and enjoyed the warm weather by the pool and went to spring training baseball games!  Ever since then it is one of our favorite places to visit.  So this year when his conference was scheduled again, we decided that it would be a good first time for us to travel since having Graham.  Thanks toNana and Bop who made this all possible!

I kept thinking this trip was a long ways away after Christmas, and then all of a sudden it was here.  I was very nervous about being away from Graham, but my mom listened to my every concern and was very reassuring and calming.  Trent flew out to Scottsdale on Tuesday morning so Graham and I loaded up and headed to Waco.  I'm glad we had a couple of days there for me to help him get adjusted.  He is all of a sudden in that stage of being clingy and unsure of people he isn't around on an everyday basis.

So Thursday morning I headed back to Houston bright and early to catch my flight to meet up with Trent.  There were definitely tears as I left and along the way, but I knew Graham was in the best hands and that Trent and I would have a great weekend!

I am very thankful for lots of videos and pictures!  Nana and Bop loved their time with Graham, and he had a great weekend with them!  Trent and I also had such a fun time having uninterrupted conversations, leisurely meals, and lots of time to sleep!  I took a nice nap everyday while we were there!  But we sure did miss our boy and were excited to see him on Sunday!

I was so glad he woke up happy on Thursday and ready to play!  It was best for both of us that I left while he was still sleeping!

Gran and Poppa came over to play!

They got lots of good cuddles and play time!

The beautiful sunrise on my way to Houston.

All bundled up for a walk!

Playing golf on Friday morning!  I just drove the cart...my favorite thing to do!

Our resort from the 16th hole!

 YUMMY!!!

I went along for the experience to the Barrett Jackson car auction on Saturday.  This is the original Batmobile that was up for sale for the first time ever.  It ended up going for 4.2 million.  It was so cool seeing it up close before it was auctioned!

At sunset every evening a bag piper walks up the 18th green...it is so cool to watch and listen!

My spot by the fire pit listening to the music!

Reunited and it feels so good!!  I was so excited to see him!  He seemed so much bigger and busier than ever!

We've had lots of fun play time today! :)

Nana and Bop, thank you so much for watching our sweet boy for us so we could enjoy a weekend away!  I hope y'all got lots of rest today! :)
